    Why it works?

Your head is not where this starts. It starts lower, in the small muscles at the base of your skull that have been holding your head forward for years.

They are the most nerve dense muscles in your body. Locked, they do not hurt where they sit. The stiffness stays in your neck and the pain comes out at your temple, behind your eye, across the top of your head.

A muscle locked that long needs four things at once. Nuca does all four in one session.

26° TractionOpens the crowding at the base of your skull so the bones ease apart instead of pressing harder together.
EMSMakes the muscle contract and release again, which is the one thing it has stopped doing on its own.
HeatOpens the vessels and gets blood back into tissue that has been starved for years.
MassageLoosens the larger muscles layered on top, so the work underneath holds.

Open three of the four and the fourth can lock it back by morning.

I've never seen anyone about this. Do I need a diagnosis first?

No. That is exactly who this is built for.

Most women we hear from have never been to anyone about it. Not because they were ignoring it, but because it never seemed big enough to book an appointment over. A tight neck. A headache most afternoons. Everyone has those.

And if you have been in about the headaches, nobody looked at your neck, because you went in about your head.

Put two fingers at the base of your skull, where it meets the top of your neck, and press. If there is a spot there that is sore in a way the skin around it is not, you have just found it yourself. That is the spot this sits on.

Is it safe? What does it feel like?

It is EMS, the same technology physical therapists have used for forty years. Aimed at the right spot for the first time.

The first session feels like a firm tingle, then a deep ache as the locked muscle starts to let go. Never sharp. You start on the lowest setting and work up until you feel a firm pulse, not a jolt. Most women settle in the middle and stay there.

The pulses work on muscle at the base of your skull. They do not go anywhere near your brain, your eyes or your ears. If anything ever feels sharp, you turn it down or switch it off from the remote in your hand.

Not for use with a pacemaker, or during pregnancy.

How and when you use it?

Ten minutes, once a day. Most women do it in bed before sleep, because your neck has carried the load all day and this is the one point where it comes off.

Lie flat on your bed, on the floor, or on the couch with the TV on. The base of your skull rests in the cradle. The base is non-slip, so it stays where you put it. You do not hold anything and there is nothing to learn. You lie back and let it work.

The remote sits in your hand, so you are never reaching behind your own head to change a setting.

It packs flat into a weekend bag, so a trip does not cost you a week of progress.

    What to expect?
Session 1A firm tingle, then a deep ache where it presses in. You get up and your neck is looser than it has been in months.
Week 1The ringing goes quiet. Most women say the pressure behind their eyes is the first thing they stop noticing.
Week 2–3The headaches go. You are steady on your feet again, no swimmy moments when you stand up too fast.
Week 4You stop taking anything. Not because you decided to, but because one day you realise there is nothing to take it for.

You will not notice the day it happens. You will notice the week you got back.

The electricity scared me. It sits right below where I already get the headaches and I pictured setting one off. It is a firm tingle in the muscle, nothing more. Four years of two Advil before I even had coffee. Now I get up and put the kettle on and that is the whole morning. There is nothing to get through first.

I would not have said my neck was the problem. It was just tight, like everyone's. My hand went to the back of it a hundred times a day and I never once thought about why. Three weeks in my husband asked when I had stopped doing that. I had not noticed I had. I do not think about it at all now.

I had cut things out one at a time without ever deciding to. Yoga first, then the evenings out, then most of Sunday. It happens so slowly you do not see it as giving anything up. Six weeks with this and I am back at work properly and back in a Tuesday class. I am almost off the painkillers. I did not get better at coping. I just got my week back.

My drawer is full of things I used twice and quit. This is ten minutes in bed with the TV on, that is the whole thing, so I actually kept it up. The box of tablets in the side pocket of my bag is the same one that was there a month ago. I only noticed because it was still full.

The cause and the fix, in short

These were never five separate problems.

Five ordinary explanations. The headaches are stress. The tight neck is your desk. The ringing is just something that happens. The pressure behind your eyes is your screen. The dizziness is standing up too fast. Every one of those is partly true, and not one of them is the reason.

Years of holding your head forward lock the small, deep muscles at the base of your skull. They are the most nerve dense muscles in your body. Locked, they do not hurt where they sit. The stiffness stays down in your neck, and the signal comes out where their nerves end: your temple, behind your eye, the top of your head, your ears.

So if it is your neck, why does your neck not hurt that much? Because a muscle that small cannot make much noise. Big muscles scream when you overload them. These ones send a signal instead, and the signal surfaces somewhere you would never think to look. Nobody has ever examined your neck about this, and that is not neglect. You went in about your head, if you went in at all.

A muscle locked this long strangles its own blood supply, so it cannot let go on its own. Nuca does the four things it needs at once: 26° traction opens the crowding, EMS makes the frozen muscle contract and release again, heat gets blood back into starved tissue, and massage loosens the layer on top so what opens underneath holds.

Put two fingers at the base of your skull, where it meets the top of your neck, and press. If there is a spot there that is sore in a way the skin around it is not, you just found it yourself. That is the spot this sits on.

Your recovery timeline

What you get back as it opens

Session 1

The first give

A firm tingle, then a deep ache where it presses in. You get up and your neck is looser than it has been in months.

Week 1

The quiet comes back

The ringing goes. You get to the end of a screen day without the pressure building behind your eyes.

Week 2–3

Your afternoons return

Two o'clock arrives and nothing happens. You are steady on your feet, and you make plans for an evening without checking how you feel first.

Week 4+

You stop counting

The box of tablets in your bag is the same one that was there a month ago. You are not managing anything anymore.

You will not notice the day it happens. You will notice the week you got back.

Why the cheap ones re-lock by morning

Everything else in this category does one of the four

A muscle locked for years is four problems at once, and each one holds the others in place. Open three and the fourth can lock it all back by morning.

A pad presses with your bodyweight and nothing else. It cannot contract the muscle, pump blood back into it, or reach the layer holding it shut. That is one job out of four, and it is why it feels good at night and is back by morning.

The arithmetic

A physical therapist can do this. That is the problem.

This is genuinely their job and they are good at it. What they cannot do is be there tomorrow.

One physical therapy session$80–150
To hold it, most will tell you 2 to 3 a weekfor months
Three months of that~$3,450
Your desk reloads that neck 5 days a weekand never misses one
Nuca, every night, at home$139. Once.

One session costs about what this costs, once. That is why results depend so completely on how often you go, and why they fade when you stop. The release has to happen more often than the load comes back, which means it cannot be an appointment.

FAQ

Common questions

My neck doesn't even hurt that much. Can it really be that?
That is the most common question we get, and the answer is the whole mechanism. Big muscles scream when you overload them. The suboccipitals at the base of your skull are too small to make that much noise, so instead of pain where they sit, they send a signal, and it surfaces where their nerves end. What they leave behind locally is a dull ache and a tightness you stopped noticing years ago, because whose neck isn't tight. The stiffness is where the muscle is. The headache is where its nerves end.
I also get the ringing and the dizziness. Is that the same thing?
Often, yes. The nerves running out of that area feed a wide region: the back and top of the head, the temple, behind the eye, and the structures around the ear. When those muscles are locked, people commonly report several of these at once and treat them as unrelated. That is exactly why they never get connected. What we would not tell you is that every case of ringing or dizziness comes from the neck, because that is not true. If yours came on suddenly, is getting worse, or arrived with anything else new, see someone about it first. If it has been part of the background for years alongside a tight neck and afternoon headaches, this is the place to look.
Should I see a doctor about this first?
If any of it is new, sharp, one-sided, getting worse, or came with numbness, weakness, or a change in vision, see someone before you buy anything. We would rather lose the sale. If it has been the same background pressure and the same afternoon headaches for years, and you can find a sore spot at the base of your skull with your fingers, you do not need a diagnosis to work on a tight muscle. That is what this is.
I've never had a scan and never seen anyone. Will this still work?
Most people we hear from have never been to anyone about it, and not because they were ignoring it. It never seemed big enough to book an appointment over. A tight neck. A headache most afternoons. Everyone has those. And a scan would not have shown this anyway: imaging finds damage, and a locked muscle is not damage. It is a lock, and locks open.
I've had this for over ten years. Is it too late?
Length of time matters less than what is actually wrong. A neck compressed for ten years does take longer to let go than one at two years, and that is exactly why the guarantee is 90 days and not 30. One thing does change with time and it is worth knowing: the discs in your neck lose water and height as you get older, which leaves less room where those nerves pass through. That happens to everyone and there is nothing to do about it. It means the same amount of forward lean that gave you a stiff neck at 40 produces a headache now. You did not get worse at posture. There is less room for the load to sit in, and the load is the part you can change.
How is it different from the cheap cradles on Amazon?
A foam cradle only presses with your bodyweight. Make a fist and squeeze, then press on it as hard as you like. It does not open. Right instinct, wrong target. A pad cannot contract the muscle, pump blood back into it, or reach the layer holding it shut. That is one job out of four, and leaving three undone is why it feels good at night and is back by morning. There are copies of Nuca out there now, too. Right shape in the photos, nothing inside. No real angle, no stim. A shell that presses.
What happens if I stop using it?
Honest answer: your day is still spent at a screen, and that is what put it there in the first place. This is not a course you finish. Most people go from nightly use to a few nights a week once the afternoons stay quiet, just to keep ahead of the load. Ten minutes is short enough that it survives being a habit, which is the entire reason it works at all.
Can I use it in bed?
Yes, and that's where most people use it. Ten minutes before sleep is the point, because your neck has carried the load all day and this is where it comes off. The base is non-slip so it stays where you put it. One thing worth knowing: the 26° traction needs something firm to pull against. On a normal mattress you're fine. If yours is very soft or a pillow-top, use it on the floor with a mat or a folded blanket instead, or on the couch.
Battery, charging and what is in the box
Rechargeable by USB-C, with roughly two hours of run time on a full charge. At ten minutes a night that's around ten sessions per charge, so you're charging it about once a week. In the box: the Nuca device, the hands-free remote, and the USB-C cable.
What if it does not work for me?
You have 90 days. Use it every night, and if your head, neck or sleep is not better, email us for a full refund, no questions, and you keep the device. The risk is on us.
How fast is shipping?
Ships within 24 hours, and shipping is free. Due to high demand, delivery is currently taking around 6 to 12 days.
Do you sell this on Amazon?
No. To keep the price fair and protect quality, we sell exclusively here on our own site, never on marketplaces.

I work from home and I have two monitors and a standing desk and a good chair and I still had a headache every afternoon. I'd optimized my workspace as much as ergonomics advice allowed and the headaches didn't care. The problem wasn't the desk setup. It was the muscle that had been locked for years regardless of the desk I put in front of it. Releasing the muscle fixed the headache. The desk didn't change. Everything else did.

Barbara K.

I'm an occupational therapist. I understand the postural loading mechanism. I recommend ergonomic adjustments to patients every day. And I still had my own neck knot at the base of my skull that I couldn't resolve because I couldn't fully address the suboccipital compression from the outside. I use Nuca every evening now. The knot has resolved. The headaches that accompanied it have resolved. I've mentioned it to three colleagues. Two of them ordered it.

I don't write reviews. I've bought hundreds of things on the internet and never once felt moved to write one. This is the exception. I've had daily headaches for six years. Not the kind that stop you, the kind that just never leave. Background noise. A 3 out of 10 that sits there all day while you try to function around it. I tried everything I could find. Nothing touched it at the source. This did. Week four. Headaches gone. The background noise is just gone.

K
Karen F.

I had no expectations when I ordered this. I had bought too many things that didn't work and I had too little hope left to have expectations. I just needed to try something else. Something about the explanation of the nerve pathway from the base of the skull to the temple made me order it at midnight during a particularly bad headache week. Five weeks later those headaches are gone. I'm writing this at 4pm without a headache. I can't remember the last time I could have written that before this.

I've been sitting at a desk since 1998. That's a long time to have your head sitting slightly forward of where it's supposed to be. By the time this device arrived in my hands the muscles at the base of my skull had been in some degree of contraction for over twenty years. They didn't hurt exactly. They were just always there. And they were giving me a headache every single day. Five weeks of Nuca every night and I genuinely cannot remember the last morning I woke up with pressure at the base of my skull. It used to be the first thing I felt.

R
Rachel H.

I was one of those people who had ibuprofen in every room. Bathroom, kitchen, desk, car, bag. Because the headache showed up randomly and I had to be ready for it. The headache always started at the back of my head and moved forward. By noon it was at my temple. By 3pm it was behind my eye. I used to just track it like weather. Three weeks into Nuca I realized my kitchen bottle had the same pills in it from when I refilled it a month ago. I hadn't touched it. The headache had stopped showing up.

A
Autumn J.

I don't have the words for what it feels like to wake up without a headache for the first time in three years. I keep expecting it to come back. It hasn't come back. Week four to now, six weeks, every morning is the same: nothing at the base of my skull, nothing moving toward my temple, nothing needing to be managed. Just a morning.

C
Claire Q.

My partner noticed I was moving my head differently. Not dramatically, just more freely, turning to look at things without that particular stiffness. He mentioned it casually. I said I'd been using something for my neck. He asked if it worked. I turned my head fully to the right and then fully to the left without any resistance and said yes.

G
Gregory V.

My neck was so tight my massage therapist used to wince. She'd work on the base of my skull for twenty minutes and it would take the whole session to get any give. Then the next week it was back. For three years. Six weeks of Nuca and she said at my last appointment that something was different, the tissue was releasing more readily than it ever had. She asked what I'd changed. I said I'd been doing something at home every night. She said whatever it is, keep doing it.

L
Landon D.

I'm a software engineer and I sit at a computer nine hours a day. I knew my posture was bad and I'd accepted that my neck would always be tight and my head would always hurt by 3pm. That was just the job. I found this after reading about the suboccipital muscles and how they're the most nerve-dense tissue in the body, and how a locked muscle there doesn't hurt where it is, it hurts where the nerves go. That's why the headache is at your temple. The muscle is at the base of your skull. Once I understood that I bought this immediately. Four weeks later I've made it to 5pm twice without a headache. I haven't done that in two years.

C
Cheryl H.

I had this pressure at the back of my head that would wrap around to my temple by afternoon. Every day. I described it to my doctor as a band that tightens over the course of the morning. She said tension headache. Suggested ibuprofen, stress reduction, better sleep. All the usual. I'd been doing all of that for three years. What I hadn't done was anything aimed at the base of my skull, because nobody had ever told me that was where it was coming from. Three weeks after I started using Nuca the band stopped forming.

A
Alexei I.

The thing I needed to understand before this worked was that the stiffness in my neck and the headaches in my head are not two separate problems. They are one problem in two locations. The muscle is locked in the neck. The pain comes out at the head. Treat the muscle and both resolve. That's the logic. It took me a while to find it and it changed everything.

J
Janice G.

I have an IT job. I've had an IT job for twenty years. My neck has been tight for most of that time and I've had headaches starting at the base of my skull for about eight of those years. I'd resolved myself to this being the price of the career. Four weeks of Nuca every night and I am revising that resolution. The headaches are gone. My neck moves freely. The price apparently wasn't permanent.

C
Charles N.

The pressure behind my left eye was constant. I'd worn glasses for ten years and had assumed it was related. New prescription. Same pressure. Second opinion. Pressure still there. I finally went to an optometrist who told me my vision was perfect and suggested I see a neurologist. I didn't go to the neurologist. I found Nuca and read about the occipital nerve pathway from the base of the skull traveling up and forward. That was describing exactly where my pressure was. Five weeks in the pressure behind my eye is gone. Still wearing the same glasses.

N
Nicholas W.

I bought this because the explanation was the first one that made anatomical sense to me. The headache is where the nerves end. The problem is where the muscle is. And the muscle is at the base of the skull, not at the temple. I'd been treating the temple for years and getting nowhere. Four weeks of treating the source and the headaches at the temple are gone.

F
Frances X.

Something is happening in my neck. The tightness at the base of my skull feels slightly different after each session. The headaches haven't followed yet. Three stars, still early.

R
Ralph N.

My husband kept telling me to see someone about my headaches. I kept saying they weren't bad enough for a doctor's appointment. They were just always there, a 3 or 4, manageable, not dramatic. That was my life. Then I found this and tried it mostly to have something to tell him. Week three the headaches stopped being a daily thing. By week five they were gone entirely. He asked what changed. I told him about the neck muscles. He looked it up and then looked at me with the expression of someone who has been right about something for a long time.

L
Levi H.

Three weeks in and something real is happening. The tight band at the base of my skull is looser. The headaches that used to come every day are coming every other day now. Four stars at this stage, five if this continues.

V
Valentina X.

The specific change I want to report because I haven't seen it mentioned in other reviews: the headaches that used to start at the base of my skull and move forward stopped moving. Week two they were only at the base of my skull, not spreading. Week three they were lighter at the base. Week four they were gone. The progression was visible and specific, like the mechanism was working exactly as described, from the source outward.

M
Marcus F.

I used to rate my mornings when I woke up. Good neck morning: stiff but workable. Bad neck morning: limited movement, headache already forming. I haven't rated a morning in five weeks because they're all the same. Neck soft, head clear, nothing to rate. That uniformity is the change. Before it was unpredictable. Now it's just fine.

J
Julia N.

My neck wouldn't rotate fully to the left. It had been that way for almost two years and I'd adapted without noticing. I checked my blind spots with my whole body instead of just turning my head. I parked differently. I never mentioned it to anyone because it wasn't painful, just limited. Stiff. Two weeks into using Nuca the range started coming back. By week four I turned my head to look at something and realized I'd done it without thinking. Full rotation, no resistance. I sat there for a second just turning my head back and forth like a normal person.

D
Douglas B.

The dull ache at the top of my head that I'd carried for three years is gone. I didn't even mention it in the list of symptoms when I was looking for solutions because it felt like the smallest one. The pressure at the base of my skull was the main thing. The headache forward to my temple was the second thing. The dull ache at the top of my head was just also always there. All three are gone now. The ache at the top was just further down the same nerve pathway. Same wire, different output.

G
Gloria J.

I sat on this purchase for three months. I kept reading the reviews and thinking it sounds too simple, it's too cheap, if this worked my doctor would have mentioned it. Then I had a particularly bad headache week and ordered it at 11pm on a Tuesday. Four weeks later my daily headaches are gone. My doctor does not know about the suboccipital nerve pathway. This device does.

V
Vincent F.

My chiropractor adjusted my neck for eighteen months. It helped for maybe two days each time and then everything was back. She said the muscles kept pulling everything back into place. She was right, they did, and she couldn't tell me how to stop them from doing that. I found Nuca on my own. The combination of the traction holding the space open while the EMS works on the muscle directly is the thing the adjustment never did. Five weeks in and I'm going two weeks between adjustments now. My chiropractor noticed before I said anything.

D
Dean R.

I've been in and out of physical therapy for my neck for three years. The PT was good. The results were good for a few days. The problem is that I load my neck at work five days a week and I was seeing my PT twice a month. The load always outpaced the release. Nuca runs the release every night at home, which is the only frequency that can actually match the load. The headaches are gone and the PT confirmed my neck is holding between sessions for the first time.
